AI Monitoring
Track the questions people ask AI and see every week whether Google's AI answers, ChatGPT and Claude name your brand, in what place, who they name instead and which sources they cite.
AI visibility checks one article's keyword when you click a button. AI Monitoring does the same for a list of questions, on its own, every week. You see whether AI mentions your brand, how that changes over time, and who AI recommends instead.
AI Monitoring is a paid add-on. It is not part of the plans: you add it next to any plan, the free one too, for a monthly price. It is not part of the AppSumo lifetime deals either.
Get the add-on
- Open Plan and billing.
- Under Add-ons, find AI Monitoring and click Get AI Monitoring.
- Pay by card. The add-on renews every month until you cancel it.
The price and the number of questions it includes are shown on the pricing page and on Plan and billing. You can also open a project, click the AI Monitoring tab and click Get AI Monitoring there.
To stop it, click Cancel renewal under Add-ons. Weekly checks keep running until the end of the month you paid for, then stop. Your questions and their past results are kept, so the trend is still there if you add it again later.
Who can use it
The add-on belongs to an account and counts in the projects that account owns, like the other project features. People you invite to your projects use your add-on there, so they do not need their own:
- Owner and editors can add and remove questions and use Check now.
- Viewers can see the results.
The number of questions is for the whole account, across all of its projects.
Before you start
AI Monitoring looks for your brand in the answers, so the project needs at least one of these in Project settings:
- Website, for example
example.com; - Brand name (for AI visibility), for example "Acme".
Add questions
- Open the project and click the AI Monitoring tab next to Articles and Search Console.
- Type a question people ask AI about what you offer, for example "best vpn for gaming" or "which project management tool is best for small teams".
- Click Track.
Under the box, From your articles suggests the keywords of the project's articles. Click one to track it.
A new question is checked right away, usually within a minute or two. After that it is checked every week.
Track the questions a customer would ask before buying, in their words. "Best X for Y" and "X vs Y" questions are where AI names brands the most.
To stop tracking a question, click the bin icon on its row. Its results are removed and the question no longer counts against your add-on.
What it checks
Each question is asked to every engine that is set up on the site:
- Google AI Overview: the AI answer Google shows above the results, in the project's country and language.
- Google AI Mode: Google's answer when people search in AI Mode.
- Each AI assistant connected to SerpPal, for example ChatGPT and Claude.
- When it is turned on for the site, an AI search engine that cites its sources.
Every project is checked on the same day and hour each week. The tab shows when the next weekly check is due. If an engine does not answer, SerpPal tries again an hour later, up to 3 times.

The questions table
Each row is a question, with one column per engine:
- #2: mentioned, and this is your place among the brands it named (for Google, among the sources it cited).
- Yes: mentioned, without a place.
- No: not mentioned.
- ?: the engine could not be checked this time.
- -: not checked yet.
Checked shows the date of the last check, or Checking while it runs.
Share of voice
Share of voice is the share of all answers this week that mention you. With 10 questions and 5 engines there are 50 answers; if 12 of them mention you, the share of voice is 24%. The tiles show this week's number and the change from last week, and the chart shows it week by week for the last 26 weeks.
One question in detail
Click a question to see:
- the last few weeks for each engine, as squares: green is mentioned, light red is not mentioned;
- for each engine, a short excerpt of the answer;
- Brands named, in order, with yours highlighted;
- Sources: the websites it cited or would send people to.
The brands and sources are where to look for your competitors and for the sites AI trusts on the topic. See How to improve your AI visibility.
Check now
To see a fresh answer before the weekly check, click Check now on a question. Each question can be checked by hand once a day. The result replaces this week's result for that question.
Cost
The add-on price covers the checks. They do not use your plan's AI words or content analyses.
Troubleshooting
"Add your website or brand name in the project settings first": neither is set. Add one in Project settings.
I see a short pitch instead of my questions. The project owner's account does not have the add-on, or it ended. Get it under Add-ons on Plan and billing. If you are a team member, ask the project owner.
"Remove one to add another": all the questions on the account are in use. Stop tracking a question in any of your projects.
"Each question can be checked by hand once a day": wait until the time shown, or let the weekly check run.
A cell shows ?: that engine did not answer this week. It is tried again within a few hours.
AI answers vary from one request to the next, even for the same question. One week is a snapshot. Look at the trend over several weeks.
