Sharing an article or a writer's brief
Share a read-only link to your article with its score, or a writer's brief with the terms, topics and target length, and turn either link off again.
You can share two kinds of read-only links from the editor. Neither needs the other person to have a SerpPal account.
| Link | What the reader sees | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Read-only article link | Your article with its title, meta description, word count and score | Showing a client or reviewer the draft |
| Writer's brief | What to write: target length, topics, terms with counts, headings, questions and the pages to beat | Briefing a freelance writer before they start |
Both links are hidden from search engines, and both can be turned off at any time.
Share a read-only article link
- Click the Share button in the editor header.
- Click Create link. The editor saves your latest changes first.
- Click Copy to copy the link, or Open to see the page yourself.
The link looks like https://serppal.com/s/.... The page shows "Shared draft for" your keyword, the word count and the score at the top, then the title, the meta description and the article.
- It always shows the latest saved version. You do not need a new link after you edit.
- Readers cannot edit or comment. They can only read. For feedback inside SerpPal, add them to the project as a Viewer and use Comments.
- Anyone with the link can open it. The address is long and random, so it cannot be guessed, but it can be forwarded. Only share it with people you trust.
Turn the link off
Open Share again and click Turn off link. The page then shows "This share link is no longer active." If you create a link again later, you get a new address. The old one stays off.
Share the writer's brief
The writer's brief is a clean, read-only page with everything a writer needs to hit your target. It does not include your article.
- Click More (three dots), then Share the writer's brief.
- Click Create link.
- Click Copy to copy the link, or Open to preview it.
The link looks like https://serppal.com/b/.... The brief page shows:
- The keyword, and the search intent and best content type (when the AI topic brief is available).
- Words: the median length of top pages and their typical range, plus the number of H2 sections and whether a FAQ section and a Table are expected.
- How to stand out: the angle from the AI topic brief.
- Topics to cover, each with its importance out of 10 and a short note.
- Use in the title and Use in headings: the phrases top pages use there.
- Terms to use in the text: up to 60 terms, each with how many times to use it (for example
3-5x), based on the median length of top pages. - Names to mention: brands, products and places.
- Questions to answer: up to 15.
- Top pages to beat: the top 3 pages with their word count, score and H2 outline.
The brief is built from the analysis, so it reflects the competitors you have chosen. If you change competitors or run the analysis again, the same link shows the updated brief.
Ask your writer to send back the draft as Markdown or HTML. Then use Import, Paste Markdown or Paste HTML to load it and see its score. See Import and export.
Turn the brief link off
Open More, then Share the writer's brief, and click Turn off link. The page then says "This brief link is no longer active."
Who can share
The project owner and Editors can create and turn off both links. Viewers cannot.
Common questions
Is the shared article page indexed by Google? No. Search engines are told not to index it, so it will not compete with your published article.
Does the shared page show my comments or versions? No. It shows only the latest saved title, meta description and article.
Can I password-protect a link? No. Turn the link off when you no longer need it.
I shared the brief before I chose competitors. Is the writer's link out of date? No. The same link always shows the brief for the current analysis.
