Keyboard shortcuts
Every keyboard shortcut and Markdown shortcut in the SerpPal content editor, for saving, formatting, headings, lists, undo and the Ask AI chat.
Most formatting in the content editor can be done without the mouse. On a Mac, use Cmd where this page says Ctrl, and Option where it says Alt.

Markdown while you type
Type these at the start of an empty line, followed by a space, and the editor turns the line into the right block:
| Type | You get |
|---|---|
# | Heading 1 |
## | Heading 2 |
### | Heading 3 |
- or * | Bulleted list |
1. | Numbered list |
> | Quote |
--- | Horizontal line (no space needed) |
Inline Markdown works too: type **bold** or *italic*, or put backticks around a word for code, and the text is formatted as soon as you type the closing marks.
The editor supports Heading 1 to Heading 3. Most articles need one H1 (or none, when your site adds the title as the H1), then H2 sections with H3 subsections.
Ask AI chat
| Shortcut | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enter | Send your message |
| Shift + Enter | New line in your message |
Find and replace
Click the magnifier in the toolbar to open Find and replace. If you select text first, it is filled in as the search. Then:
- Type in Find to see how many matches there are.
- Click Find next to jump from match to match.
- Tick Match case to only find exact upper and lower case.
- Fill in Replace with and click Replace all. Leave Replace with empty to delete every match. Press Ctrl + Z to undo.
Good to know
- Pasting from Word, Google Docs or a web page keeps headings, lists, links, bold and italic. To paste a whole page or a Markdown draft cleanly, use Import. See Import and export.
- The browser's own shortcuts still work outside the article, for example in the Title and Meta fields.
- There is no shortcut to run AI actions. Use the AI Writing button or select text to open the selection menu. See AI writing in the editor.
