Countries and languages
Which countries and languages SerpPal supports for keyword research and for writing, how the country and language pickers work, and how to choose well.
Google shows different results in different countries and languages, so every keyword analysis is for one country and one language. This page explains which ones you can pick and why the lists sometimes look different.
Two kinds of language lists
SerpPal has two sets of pickers:
| Where | What you can pick |
|---|---|
| Keyword research: the dashboard builder, the project page, the Content Planner and project settings | Only countries that have Google keyword data (94 countries at the moment), and for each country only the languages it has data for. |
| Writing tools: the essay writer, summarizer, paraphraser, humanizer and similar tools | Every language SerpPal writes in (84 languages), whatever country you are in. |
The keyword list comes from our search data provider (DataForSEO Labs) and is refreshed daily, so it can grow over time.
How the keyword pickers work
Country
The Country list has two groups:
- Popular: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Germany, France, Spain, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Nigeria, Indonesia and the Philippines (when they have keyword data).
- All countries: the rest, in A to Z order.
Language
The Language list shows the languages that the chosen country has data for. Countries with many languages get a Popular group (English, Bangla, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Indonesian, Russian, Chinese) and an All languages group.
When you change the country, the language list updates:
- If the new country has the language you had picked, it stays.
- If not, it switches to English when that country has English.
- Otherwise it switches to the country's first language.
So always check the language after you change the country.
Saved settings without keyword data
A project or article saved earlier may use a country that has no keyword data now. It still shows in the list, marked "(no keyword data)", so your setting is not lost. For new analyses, pick a country from the list.
If the list does not load
If search data is not connected, or the country list cannot be loaded, the pickers show every country and language instead. Keyword volumes and difficulty only exist for supported countries and languages, so stick to the main ones if that happens, or reload the page a little later.
What the country and language change
The country and language you pick for an analysis decide:
- Which Google results SerpPal reads. A keyword in the United Kingdom can have different top pages than in the United States.
- The language of the brief. Terms, topics and the AI topic brief are in that language. Word splitting, stopwords and reading ease follow it too.
- The language the AI writes in for that article: drafts, outlines, rewrites and meta descriptions. You do not need to ask for it.
- Search volume and difficulty in the Content Planner.
- Rank tracking and the AI Overview check use the same country and language.
Each project has a Default country and Language that fill in the keyword forms for you. You can still change them for any single analysis. See Project settings.
Languages in the writing tools
Tools that are not tied to a keyword let you pick any of the 84 languages, from Afrikaans to Zulu, including Bangla, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Korean and many European languages.
Many of these tools also offer a first option such as Same language, Same as the text or Detect language. Then the AI answers in the language of the text you give it.
Templates use the language of the project you pick for the brand kit.
Choosing well
- Pick where your readers are, not where you are. A Bangladeshi site writing for UK readers should analyze in United Kingdom, English.
- Match the language to the keyword. Analyzing an English keyword with the language set to Spanish gives poor results.
- Same keyword, two countries? Analyze it twice, once per country. Each one is a separate analysis.
- Mixed language countries (for example India, Canada or Switzerland): pick the language your article will be written in.
Common questions
My country is not in the list. Google keyword data is not available for it yet. Pick the nearest country with the same language, or contact support so we know there is demand.
Why does Bengali show as Bangla? SerpPal uses its own names for languages. Bangla and Bengali are the same language.
Can I write in a language that is not offered for my country? Yes, in the writing tools, which offer all 84 languages. In the content editor the AI writes in the analysis language, and the brief and score are built for that language, so analyze in the language you will publish in whenever you can.
