Type your title, meta description and address to see how they look on Google, on desktop and on a phone.

Write titles that get clicks

The title is the first thing searchers read.

Put the keyword near the start, say what makes your page different, and keep it short enough that nothing gets cut off.

  • Title ideas from what ranks. SerpPal suggests titles built from the top results.
  • Title and description in the score. Length and keyword checked as you write.
  • Publish with them. Sent to WordPress, Shopify, Ghost or Webflow with the post.

About the preview

SERP preview questions.

Still curious? Write to us at [email protected].

How long can a title be?

Google cuts titles by width, not by characters: about 580 pixels on desktop, which is usually 50 to 60 characters. Wide letters like W and M use more room than i and l.

How long should a meta description be?

About 920 pixels on desktop, usually 120 to 158 characters. Google may show a different snippet when another part of the page answers the search better.

Will Google show exactly this?

Close to it. Google sometimes rewrites titles and descriptions, and the layout changes now and then. Use the preview to catch titles that get cut off.

Is anything saved?

No. The preview is drawn in your browser.
